Webster Magnet School has three highly trained literacy coaches. They
support classroom literacy instruction via the full implementation of
Readers Workshop and Writers Workshop. The coaches model and
teach research-based strategies for decoding, comprehension,
vocabulary, fluency, phonics, and phonemic awareness in the
classrooms. Sometimes the coaches provide additional instruction
in small guided reading groups within the classrooms or assist with
assessments, so that students are able to read, write, and enjoy
literature independently.
