Ms. Thompson's Reading Theater class
Reader’s Theater is a research based strategy of rereading to build
fluency and an authentic communication purpose to present a piece of
literature to an audience. Students participate in group activities to
build trust, shared reading to enrich understanding of language arts,
and script reading to promote fluency and comprehension.


There are several steps that are involved in reading scripts:

1. Read alouds promote comprehension and vocabulary development.


2. Students read scripts independently building skills in decoding, word identification and fluency.

3. Students practice in
groups promoting positive social interactions.

4. Students prepare for
performance literature interpretation and public speaking.



There are many benefits to Reader’s Theater:
