Cadet band is for beginning band students. Students lean the basics of reading music, making sounds on their instruments, and playing together as a large ensemble. Students meet twice a week, once for small group lessons and once as a large band.
Varsity band serves second year and some advanced players. Musicians learn to read more involved music from their lesson books. We also work on music theory and how it applies to what we hear from our instruments. Students meet once for group lessons and once for large ensemble every week.
Honor band is for advanced players only. In this group we focus on reading printed sheet music, expanding the note range of our instruments, and refining our control of sound. This group rehearses once every week and is supplemented with small group lessons according to instrument family.
