5th Grade Curriculum
5th grade will be a year for Webster students to learn many interesting subjects and skills. Here are some of the things we expect to cover in fifth grade:

In Reading and Writing
- Content area reading.
- Research skills.
- Words, sentences, and paragraphs.
- Explanations and demonstrations.
- Write narratives, reports, persuasive accounts, and requests. Use the 6 plus  one traits of writing. (Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions, and Presentation)
- Read various forms of literature.
- Vocabulary expansion.

In Math
- Fraction/Decimal concepts.
- Geometry and Measurement.
- Multiplication and Division.
- Exponents.
- Multi-digit operations. Numbers to billions and thousandths.
- Ratio/Percent/Probability/Statistics.
- Algebra.
- Graphing.
- Estimation strategies.
- Volume.

In Social Studies
- United States History to the Civil War.
- Geography and Political Systems.
- Native peoples of the Americas.
